  • Title: The Impact of Digital Innovation and Lifestyle Medicine on Nursing Roles and Practices

Abstract

The rapid integration of digital innovation and lifestyle medicine is transforming the scope and delivery of nursing care across all healthcare settings. This presentation explores how emerging technologies—such as wearable devices, telehealth platforms, artificial intelligence, and digital therapeutics—are reshaping nursing roles from reactive care providers to proactive health partners. At the same time, the growing adoption of lifestyle medicine principles—centering on nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, social connection, and substance avoidance—is expanding the nurse’s role in behavior change support, patient education, and community-based prevention strategies.

Through case studies and evidence-based insights, we examine how nurses are leading in digital data interpretation, remote monitoring, and personalized care planning, while also fostering patient empowerment and adherence to healthy lifestyle behaviors. The integration of these two forces is not only enhancing patient outcomes and reducing chronic disease burden but also demanding new competencies in digital literacy and interprofessional collaboration.

This session highlights implications for nursing education, workforce development, and policy, and proposes a roadmap for embedding digital-lifestyle synergy into everyday practice. By embracing this dual transformation, nurses can position themselves at the forefront of a more sustainable, preventive, and person-centred healthcare model.
